College graduates
Wofford College — Michael Louis Jones II, of Danville, received a bachelor of science degree in biology with a minor in business. He was also named to the spring dean’s list.
Rice University — 
Kevin Thomas Smiley, of Danville, recently graduated with a PhD in sociology from Rice University. He is the son of Paul Smiley and Patricia Smiley. He is a graduate of Danville High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Western Kentucky University and master of arts degree from the University of Memphis.
Dr. Smiley is now assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Steel Challenge winners
The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce recently held its first Chamber Steel Challenge, a target shooting event sponsored by Bluegrass Hearing Clinic. Teams competed in a timed team event. Cook’s Rookies took the competition with their team score of 245.93. Teams from throughout the area enjoyed the course at Sugar Creek Range.

Madeline and Kelsie Peavler, of Harrodsburg, take turns mixing up the ingredients for a treat they are making in the Cooking up a Storm class offered through the Kids College held on Campbellsville University’s campus the week of June 5. The students’ father is Darryl Peavler, director of alumni relations at Campbellsville University. The next Kids College will be July 17-20 with sessions from 9 until 11:45 a.m.
