Lennie (Kidd) Short

1921-2017

Lennie (Kidd) Short, 96 of Stanford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Stanford Care & Rehabilitation Center with her children by her side. She was the widow of Rev. Rollie Short who preceded her in death on February 27, 2007.

Lennie was a retired seamstress for Palm Beach and was a great homemaker. She loved to can, quilt, and babysit and she was also a marvelous cook. Lennie loved to read, especially her Bible and was a member of the Church of God for 70 years and for the past 20 years was a member of the Danville Church of God. 

She is survived by her 8 children: Martha L. & husband Wade Pope of Beulaville, NC; Doris H. & husband Rev. Dan Carr of Stanford; Jo Ann & husband David Elliott of Danville; Geraldine Wilson of Bryantsville; Judy Shannon of Danville; Ronald Short & wife Pat of Junction City; Bonnie & husband John David Westerfield of Danville; Donald Short & wife Janna of Harrodsburg; 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren & 7 great-great-grandchildren

In addition to her husband, Lennie was preceded in death by her parents Oscar H. & Ollie (Blevins) Kidd; 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral service 1 PM, Friday, 16, 2017 at the Danville Church of God. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, and from 12 until 1 PM on Friday at Danville Church of God.

Pallbearers include Tyler & Donnie Ray Short, Ryan Shannon, Morgan & Shawn Martinez & David Elliott

Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandsons and great-grandsons.
