Trace Adkins added to Norton Center lineup

Due to a last minute date change, the Trace Adkins’ show was not included in Monday’s story “Shows going on,” listing the upcoming 2017-’18 lineup for Norton Center for the Arts. Adkins is  a Grammy-nominated member of the Grand Ole Opry and a TV personality who’s sold over 10 million albums, is an actor, author and spokesman for the Wounded Warrior Program and the American Red Cross. He will perform a mix of his most well-known songs and from his newest album on March 10 in Newlin Hall. Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center accepting applications for Medicaid Nurse Aide Training Course

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center is accepting applications for Medicaid Nurse Aide Training Courses. The Medicaid Nurse Aide training course is to prepare the nurse aide to provide high quality, direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurse personnel. Nurse aides provide care to people of all ages in various healthcare settings. Medicaid Nurse Aides are usually responsible for tasks such as: checking and recording patient’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respirations; 

assisting patients with activities of daily living; and assisting with patient’s personal hygiene

The training will be August 29, 31, September 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, October 3, 5, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.  The training course will be held at the Gilcher Building in the Barton Room. The deadline for applications is July 24.

Enrollment is limited and based on an application/interview process and the submission of required documents. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED. The class cost is $750.  The fee includes a book, workbook and the cost of the state board exam. Bryant-Adams Reunion planned

KINGS MOUNTAIN — The Bryant-Adams family reunion will be held Sunday, July 2 at Grove Ridge Baptist Church on Hwy. 501 in Kings Mountain. A basket lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Lincoln County/Cedar Creek Planning Commission — meeting and public hearing, 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 at the Lincoln County Courthouse basement floor. Items on the agenda include: a public hearing on zone map amendment application requested by Clyde Franks for 5.2 acres located at 5495 Ky. 1247, Stanford to be rezoned from Agricultural to Light Industrial-1 in order to do auto repair and storage. Franks has been in business since 1980 and wishes to expand his business to an adjoining property: public hearing for zone amp amendement application requested by Jerry Germann for two lots totaling 4.1 acres on Preachersville Road in Stanford to be rezoned from Commercial/Professional Office to Light Industrial in order to do auto repair and storage; site plan approval for Casey County Bank, located at 300 Main Street, Crab Orchard. Applicant wants to construct a conventional building to increase office space and remove the existing modular building on the site.
