Rena “Mickey” Young

1931-2017

Rena Catherine “Mickey” Young, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017. She was born in Boyle County, Kentucky, on December 10, 1931, and was a daughter of the late Clyde M. and Ada Weatherford Sinkhorn.

She was a former Kentucky State Hospital employee. She enjoyed camping at Wolf Creek Dam, visiting with family, traveling with the Forkland group and was a member of Mitchellsburg Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Forkland Community Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Buster” Young; sister, Ellen Phillips; brothers, K.W. Sinkhorn, Richard Sinkhorn, Clyde Sinkhorn Jr.; and special nephew, Michael W. Phillips. 

She is survived by two sons, Clyde Alfred Young (Bertha) of Corbin and Ray Allen Young of Danville; grandsons, Casey A. Young and Kyle N. Young of Louisville; several nieces, nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. 

The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday July 1, 2017 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Rev. Brett Benton and Rev. David Evans officiating. Mickey will be laid to rest at Elder Cemetery in Casey County. 

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mitchellsburg Baptist Church.
