Jeanne Jackson

1953-2017

Jeanne Jackson, 63, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Jackson, Esq. of Jupiter, Florida, and later her mother, Henrietta (Penny) Jackson of Danville, Kentucky. Jeanne grew up and spent most of her adult life in Danville in the vicinity of Centre College, where she and her mother owned and operated La Parisienne Hair Salon. Prior to becoming a beautician and Paris-trained hair-stylist, Jeanne actively pursued modeling and acting. In her late teens, her beauty and talent as an actress let to a successful pageant resume as she stirred the hearts of audiences and judges with her rendition of Emily Webb’s monologue from the play Our Town. This opened the door to bigger opportunities most notably in a 1971 multi-page fashion feature of Seventeen Magazine.

Later in life, Jeanne returned to her residence in Danville where she continued to work as a hair stylist. Her other passions included thrift- shopping, collecting antiques, and especially spoiling her dogs. Jeanne and her mother, Penny, were known to be accomplished cooks and gracious hosts as laughter, friendship, and good times were standard fare in their company.

Jeanne is survived by a sister, Julia Jackson Connolly and her husband William, of Palm Coast, Florida, and two nephews, Dillon Connolly of Long Beach, California and Sean Connolly of Miami, Florida.

There will be a service of remembrance, followed by a gathering of friends, at 3 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Tommy Valentine will officiate.
