Casey County fatal collision

News release 

Liberty — An accident is under investigation that claimed the life of a Danville man Saturday night. Kentucky State Trooper Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred 8:59 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 127, five miles north of Liberty.

Four vehicles were involved and seven patients were transported to area hospitals. Twenty-six-year-old Phillip Dillon, of Danville, was pronounced dead at the Casey County Hospital by the corner.  

Jordyn Harley, 23, and Monty Britton, 25, both of Harrodsburg, were transported to Ephraim McDowell where Harley was then transferred to University of Kentucky Hospital.  Both are listed in stable condition.  Harley and John Whitaker Jr., both 10,  were transported to Casey County Hospital where they were treated and released.  John Whitaker Sr., 36, of Frankfort, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  

Jeffrey Sweet, 48,  and  Christy Sweet, 41,  both of Liberty, were airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.  

The cause of the collision and vehicle involvement is still being investigated.  More details will be made available at a later date.  

Trooper Likins was assisted by additional members of the Kentucky State Police, Liberty Fire Department, Casey County Sheriff’s Department and Rescue Squad, Russell County and Lincoln County EMS.
