The story of Annie continues, from author Angela Correll’s first book “Grounded,” about a young woman who returns home to Kentucky when her jet-setting city life suddenly crashes. In the first book, Annie navigated the challenges of a run-down family farm, a fiercely stubborn grandmother and the rekindling of an old flame. In “Guarded,” Annie continues her journey of self-discovery, but also uncovers a family secret that has been buried since World War II. Shows go up 8:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday; dinner at 7:30 p.m., indoor facility in case of rain. Grease, July 14-16 at West T. Hill Community Theatre, 117 Larrimore Lane, Danville. The background is Rydell High in this popular musical about teens in the 1950s.  All the familiar characters, Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, the Pink Ladies and T-birds, this show has all the angst, turmoil and humor you would expect from energetic and adventurous teens.  A rip-roaring good time with all your favorite songs still making us hum and sing along since its debut in 1978. Painting in the Park: Downtown Fireworks, 6-9 p.m. tonight at Weisiger Plaza (rain location in the CAC, Danville). Join for our first-ever event – an outdoor painting workshop in the style of our Starry Night Studio classes. We’ll set up our easels in Weisiger Plaza (directly across from the Arts Center) and paint a festive rendition of Danville’s downtown streetscape – complete with fireworks.
