Special Farmers Market to be held Wednesday

The Boyle County Farmers Market (BCFM) will hold a special weekday farmers market at the Boyle County Health Department front parking lot, on Wednesday, July 19, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The market is targeted at WIC recipients but the general public is welcome. 

WIC recipients can obtain farmers market vouchers from the Boyle County Health Department and the value of those vouchers will be doubled under the BCFM’s Kentucky Double Dollars program. Stop by the green and white Kentucky Double Dollars tent before you shop to obtain your matching coupons.

Anyone receiving SNAP, WIC or SFMNP benefits is automatically eligible for the Kentucky Double Dollars program. The WIC and SFMNP programs will only be matched for the purchase of Kentucky fruits and vegetables, while SNAP recipients can also purchase meat and eggs. Funding for Kentucky Double Dollars is through the Community Farm Alliance USDA grant, state funding and local companies and organizations.  For more information, contact Julie Pease, peasencarrots@roadrunner.com.

Vacation Bible School

CRAB ORCHARD — The New Life House of Worship is having Vacation Bible School July 19-21 from 6-8:30 p.m. The theme is Wild About Creation. On Saturday, July 22 the church will have Family Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with water inflatables, games, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and more. The church is located on Ky. 643 near Crab Orchard.

Meetings

Bate Middle School SBDM — 4:30 p.m. at the school library. Items on the agenda include: 2017-18 allocation with possible action taken; fifth reading of the reading policy with possible action.

The Danville Boyle County Human Rights Commission — 6 p.m. Monday, July 24 at the Boyle County Courthouse, in the Fiscal Court room on the first floor. Please arrive promptly and enter by the Fourth Street entrance. The Human Rights Commission is established to hear all complaints and concerns of community citizens related to violations of their human rights. 

Lincoln Health Department to close early

STANFORD — The Lincoln County Health Department will be closing at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 for a staff meeting.

Chamber After Hours event July 20

McDowell Place of Danville, 1181 Ben Ali Dr., is hosting the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce July Business After Hours event.

The event will be Thursday, July 20, from 4 to 6 p.m.  Businesspeople are invited to stop by and meet other business owners, enjoy refreshments and tour the facility.  

Potential Chamber members are also invited to stop by and learn more about the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce.

Members are eligible to win the Pot of Gold if present when their name is drawn. The pot is now at $350.  Lexington Legends tickets will also be given as door prizes to several people in attendance.

Bring your business cards and drop by for a few minutes or the entire time.
