Raymond Wilson

1939-2017

Raymond Wilson, 78, of Danville, passed away Friday morning at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 13, 1939 in Caryville, Tennessee to the late John Wilson and Cleo Adkins Wilson Ray. Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosetta Regina Carr Wilson.

He proudly served our country in the Air Force for over 8 years, the Army for over 2 years, and in the National Guard for over 22 years. After retiring from the military, he worked for McKechnie Vehicle Components for many years. Raymond volunteered at Salvation Army Thrift Store and attended the Danville Church of God on Fourth Street.

He is survived by his four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Wilson of Danville, Sonya Wilson (James Dollins) of Milton, Florida, Valerie Whiting of Danville, and Kathy Vaught of Danville; three grandchildren, Cayce Quinn (Travis) of Danville, Molly Higgins (Jonathan) of Murray, and Aubree Hardin (Brandon) of Danville; and three sisters, Marie Burkhart (Alton) of Lily, Ky, Betty Robinette of Knoxville, Tennesee, and Trula Harris of Corbin, Ky. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Ray.

Funeral services 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Montgomery officiating. Burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Ray, Travis Ray, Wayne Robinette, Bobby Robinette, John Burkhart, Tim Harris, Tony Harris, Terry Harris, Brandon Hardin, Travis Quinn, Jonathan Higgins and Wayne Perry.
