Governor appoints local doctor to state board

Dr. Robert Powers, of Harrodsburg, executive director of the Bridge Program, has been appointed by Gov. Bevin to the Kentucky Parole Board. He will serve for a term expiring March 1, 2021.

The Kentucky Parole Board is composed of nine members appointed by the governor to a four-year staggered term. Each Board member must have at least five years of actual experience in the fields of penology, corrections work, law enforcement, sociology, law, education, social work, medicine, or a combination thereof, or must have served five years previously on the Parole Board. The Board studies case histories of those up for parole, conducts hearings for granting parole, issues warrants for violating parole and determines the period of supervision for those granted parole.

Ephraim McDowell Harrodsburg Family Medical Center welcomes Tammy Cook-Mobley, Advanced Practice Provider

HARRODSBURG – Tammy Cook-Mobley, A.P.R.N., NP-C, an advanced practice provider, has joined the staff at Ephraim McDowell Harrodsburg Family Medical Center. She will be joining advanced practice providers, Amanda Dean and Carol Baker.

Tammy obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Cincinnati in 1994 and went on to earn her master’s degree in nursing at South University in Savannah, Georgia. She maintains board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her 23 years of nursing experience encompass medical aesthetics, bariatric, public health nursing, intensive care nursing, acute care, and emergency medicine. Tammy has a vast knowledge and passion for helping patients live the healthiest lifestyle possible and overcoming the conditions that come with obesity. Taking care of the primary care needs of patients is something Tammy is passionate about and excited to begin at Ephraim McDowell.  

Tammy lives in Pulaski County with her five children.  She is also a certified Anusara yoga instructor as well as a Pilates instructor. Tammy enjoys traveling and cooking and watching her children play sports.
