Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen to host Watermelon Ride 

LANCASTER — Trail riders can take a break from the summer heat with cool watermelon during Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen’s (FHBCH) annual Watermelon Ride, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5 at Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center, Inc. in Lancaster. Riders should arrive by 9:30 a.m. and be ready to hit the trail at 10 a.m.

The trail ride is a fundraiser for Hooves of Hope and costs $10 per horse. All horses must have proof of a negative Coggins. FHBCH will serve cold, refreshing watermelon following the ride.

“We welcome this opportunity to ride with friends at the Hooves of Hope facility while raising funds to help this organization continue with its important work of providing services to individuals with special needs using horses,” said Emily Dennis, FHBCH president.
