Babe Dean and the Great Eclipse, Aug. 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27 at West T. Hill Community Theatre, 117 Larrimore Lane, Danville. Danville Celebrates  with World Premiere of a comedy written by local playwright Elizabeth Orndorff. WTH travels back to Random, Kentucky, once again get involved in the faux hillbilly antics of Babe Dean and her friends. This time they are trying to make money off the eclipse. Returning stars from the past Hollerwood chronicles include Karen Logue, Allen Martin and Dale Kihlman trying to understand what the heck an eclipse is and how much money can be had. Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, through Saturday at Pioneer Playhouse, 840 Stanford Road, Danville. A comedic genius transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock must escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit before a family curse dooms its next victim. A witty new take on Sherlock. Rated G. Next up: Elvis Has Left The Building, Tuesday-Aug. 19. It’s December 20, 1970, and Elvis Presley has disappeared, leaving his wily manager, The Colonel, in a bind. The Colonel must find the perfect Elvis impersonator or get his goose cooked by a Las Vegas heavy. From the Dracula Bites duo, a hilarious homage to the King that will have you “all shook up” with laughter. The Derby Museum: Mathin’ Around the Track, 12:30 p.m. Friday at BCPL, Danville. For grades PK-3. What does it take to win the Kentucky Derby? It takes a fast horse, and a whole lot of MATH, of course! Students will solve problems taken from the “Five Big Ideas of Math” as they prepare their horse for the Kentucky Derby in this real-world application of math.” This program is most appropriate for early elementary, but all are welcome. Info: (859) 238-7323.

The Derby Museum: Super Horse, the Shoe and You, 2 p.m. Friday at BCPL, Danville. For grades 4-8.  It takes two very special athletes to win the Kentucky Derby – one three year old Thoroughbred racehorse – and a jockey. This program will explore the athleticism and physiology of both athletes, as well as other factors that go into the making of a champion.
