Betty Jo Canada Ellis

1948-2017

Betty Jo Canada Ellis, 69, of Danville passed away Monday, August 7, 2017. Born August 1, 1948, she was the daughter of Alma Whitis Canada of Hustonville and the late Jack Canada. She was a graduate of McKinney High School and a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired while serving as Director of Garrard Adult Day Program. She was a long time member of McKinney Christian Church. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ellis.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Michele (Johnny) Lakes of Harrodsburg; son, Matthew (Lacy) Ellis of Danville; brother, Bob (Jan) Canada of Lexington; four step-children: Janie Messer of Stanford, Shelia Albright of Danville, Scott Ellis of McKinney and Kent Ellis of Stanford; four grandchildren: Chase Marshall, Jackson Lakes, Mia Ellis and Jenna Coyle; nine step grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 am, Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Darrell Estes and Bro. Greg Starbuck with burial in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chase Marshall, Jackson Lakes, Nick Maynard, Tyler Henson, Gary Whitis, Barry Whitis, Timmy Whitis and John Downard. Visitation is 5-8 pm, Thursday.
