Country royalty: McBride to perform at Norton Center

Martina McBride’s latest tour brings her to the Norton Center for the Arts’ Newlin Hall on Sept. 8. Multiple Grammy nominee McBride has sold over 18 million albums to date, including 20 Top 10 singles and six No. 1 hits. In February 2016, she released her first single, “Reckless,” the title track from her new album which is now available.

McBride has earned more than 15 major music awards, including four wins for Female Vocalist of the Year from the Country Music Association and three wins from the Academy of Country Music for Top Female Vocalist.

“Over the past several seasons, the Norton Center has brought some powerful country legends, who also happen to be female,” said Norton Center Executive Director Steve Hoffman. “Martina McBride will now join the elite club that also includes past performances by Dolly Parton, Wynonna, Lee Anne Womack, Amy Grant, and Alison Krauss.”

McBride was awarded the Covenant House Beacon of Hope Award and Music Business Association’s prestigious 2015 Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award for her philanthropic efforts on behalf of domestic violence. Her hits include the popular “Independence Day,” “Concrete Angel” and “A Broken Wing,” among many others. Recently, McBride released her first book, “Around the Table,” a full-color illustrated collection of her favorite recipes, hosting tips, practical menu planning advice and themed décor inspiration.
