One of two trailers stolen from Danville was recovered late Tuesday night by Mercer County deputies on Dossett Lane in Harrodsburg.

According to Mercer County Sheriff Ernie Kelty, a woman called the Danville 911 dispatch center to report that her father had found a trailer matching the description of the one taken from Hometown Radio Network’s parking lot.

“He found it blocking his property, he moved it, told his daughter and she called,” Kelty said.

Charlie Perry with Hometown Radio said they understood that the man hid the trailer behind his barn, in case the thieves attempted to return.

Perry said the radio station is happy to have the trailer back and that it was returned early this morning.

“It is great,” he said.

A few things were stolen, he said — things that didn’t make a lot of sense, such as condiments from the cooler, a tote with paper products and a tote with cleaning supplies. The only damage was to the lock, where thieves pried it open.

“It could have been worse,” Perry said.

The trailer was stolen sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

A second trailer, this one an open “lawnmower trailer,” was also stolen sometime between Saturday night and Tuesday morning from Southern States. It is described as a black, open trailer, with accompanying ramps, and is about five by eight feet. So far, it has not been located.

Danville Police Chief Tony Gray has said it is believed there may have been other attempts to steal trailers in Boyle County, but none could be confirmed.
