“The Illustrated Word” was open for submission by all Kentucky artists and features artwork that connects visual art with literature.

“We are proud to host the Kentucky Arts Council’s ‘The Illustrated Word’ exhibit for the local community,” said Amanda Gearhart, library director.  “This unique exhibit that combines visual art and literature is a great example of how the library connects and inspires the community.”

The exhibit opening will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, with live music by Jeff Cain and light refreshments.

“Marrying the disciplines of visual art and literature is a unique challenge, and it’s one the artists selected for this exhibit have risen to and surpassed,” said Lydia Bailey Brown, arts council executive director. “I’m confident ‘The Illustrated Word’ will be an inspiring exhibit in the Kentucky communities it visits.”

In addition to traveling around the commonwealth, “The Illustrated Word” will be on view at Kentucky Crafted: The Market, April 21-23 at the Lexington Convention Center.
