The Kiwanis Club of Danville program on August 10 was presented by representatives from the Miss Kentucky Organization. Susan Smith Parks, co-director of the Miss Danville Pageant, presented the group with some great background about the powerful depth of the program – all the way from Miss America to the local level. After her, Emily Sharp, a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Kentucky from London, Kentucky, the current Miss Danville, talked about her platform “Take It Easy: My Father’s Story.” She was followed by Bryce Baker, the reigning Miss Danville’s Outstanding Teen, who shared the initiatives she has been working with against bullying.

Crimson Claycomb, founder and executive director of Kendyl and Friends Foundation, presented to Kiwanis Club of Danville on Thursday, August 17. Kendyl and Friends Foundation is a 503(c)3 non-profit, charitable, educational and financial resource for special needs children and adults – offers several grants for:
• handicap accessible equipment,
• handicap conversions,
• medical equipment,
• handicap accessible vehicles,
• special education,
• therapeutic grants, and
• playgrounds.
These grants are available year-round when funds are available. Kendyl and Friends Foundation is currently working on two fully handicap-accessible playgrounds. They service all over Kentucky — wherever the need is.
Claycomb began this mission as an advocate for special needs children shortly after her youngest daughter, Kendyl, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy shortly after birth.
