Melvin Lee Young

1925-2017

Melvin Lee Young, 92, passed away Wednesday August 30, 2017. Melvin was born in Casey County, Kentucky on May 13, 1925. He was one of four sons of the late Sylvester and Ruth Lane Young. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Owen Young.

Melvin served in the United States Army during World War II. He was retired from Hobart Corporation in Louisville and attended Sycamore Church of Christ in Forkland. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Kosair Shriners.

Survivors include a brother, Ray Young, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday September 4, 2017 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Ken Barker and Jimmy Gorley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
