Mathes remains at large: Judge Peckler encourages bond-holders to help

Jerry Mathes continues to be a no-show, as $2,000 — which is 10 percent of a $20,000 bond — was revoked on Tuesday in the Boyle County Circuit Court by Judge Darren Peckler.

Bond was placed for Mathes by three separate individuals, including himself. Previously, Judge Peckler told the others they might not get all of their money back.

Peckler has encouraged the bond-holders to try to get Mathes to turn himself in.

Mathes faces charges of first-degree assault; first-degree possession of controlled substance (cocaine); first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia; and three charges of contempt of court, stemming from failed appearances and a failed drug test.

On Oct. 24, 2014, Mathes allegedly got into a fight with a customer, Ricky Cole, at the former Jerry’s Body Shop in Danville, which Mathes owned. According to case files, the two were fighting over money relating to work Mathes had done on a truck belonging to Cole; Mathes pulled a weapon and Cole sustained a gunshot wound.

Mathes was also found with a small packet of white powder, which files state tested positive as cocaine.

Ryan Hundley, a former Danville Police officer facing charges of assault involving a shotgun, was also in court. He is out on a $5,000 bond and will reappear on Oct. 3.
