Back Country Horsemen kick-off new season

HARRODSBURG — Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Mercer County Extension office. FHBCH members Steve and Pam Corley will share their horsemanship clinic experiences during FHBCH’s autumn kick-off meeting and will explain how they have become residents of an equine community in White Oak, Tennessee.  

FHBCH members will discuss activities to support local equine-related organizations and plans to help maintain local trails. The group is also planning monthly trail rides.

Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen serves members from the central Kentucky area. Horse ownership is not required. For more information call (606) 365-8393.

Water maintenance on Clifton Road

The City of Danville Water Distribution Department will be performing water line maintenance beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, which will affect water service for Clifton Road. Once water service is restored, those affected by the maintenance will be under a boil water advisory until further notice. Jamboree to benefit Bradfordsville school

BRADFORDSVILLE — The Bradfordsville Jamboree will be Friday, Sept. 8 at the old Bradfordsville school gym. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. Entertainment will be Kentucky South Band with special guest, Kelly Casey. A meal will be offered for $9 and concessions will be available. For more information call (270) 337-4666 or (270)-337-2832. Festival to benefit community center

BUTCHERTOWN — The annual Butchertown County Day Festival will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Butchertown Community Center. Live music will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Still Voice with Randy Douglas and Joe Conder. There will be contests, food, an auction, country store, yard sale and children’s games. There will also be a drawing for quilt made by community center ladies. Admission is free. All proceeds to benefit the Butchertown Community Center.

Cruise-in to benefit Walk to End Alzheimer’s

McDowell Place of Danville will host the Frank Lawson Memorial Cruise-in from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10. Registration is free. Trophies will be awarded for residents’ choice top five cars. Dash plaques will be given to all participants and concessions will be available. All proceeds go to Walk to End Alzheimer’s. McDowell Place is located at 1181 Ben Ali Drive in Danville.
