Grateful for anonymous note left in herb garden

Dear Editor,

The Garden Club of Danville would like to thank the anonymous person who recently left a note for us propped in a bush at the Mary Akin Herb Garden in Constitution Square. Written in pencil on a page torn from a spiral notebook, the note was a thank you to the club for maintaining the garden that has given the writer so much pleasure over the years. The garden is one of his or her favorite spots in Danville. The note was spotted in the bush on a rainy day by Julie Nelson who was passing by. Julie took it to work with her at Maple Tree Gallery and handed it over to the first Garden Club member who came in the shop.

Both the note and Julie’s thoughtfulness are much appreciated. In these contentious times, they are simple reminders of how small and random acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day.
