Thanks to all who made Run for the Arts a success

Dear Editor,

I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the people and businesses who made the 39th annual Constitution 5K/Run for the Arts a huge success. The Constitution 5K is one of the region’s longest-running races. For the past nine years, the strength and power of that event has been channeled to support the educational programs of the Community Arts Center.

Over its nine-year history as the Constitution 5K/Run for the Arts, this event has raised more than $35,000 for the Arts Center thanks to the dedication of Ernst Crown-Weber and the Danville Bike and Footwear team. We are very grateful for their leadership!

To the 17 local businesses who sponsored the race — hats off to you! Your commitment to improving the physical and creative health of our community is inspiring.

Thank you also to Police Chief Tony Gray and the Danville Police Department for keeping our runners safe during the race and for graciously managing traffic control, road closures and the myriad logistical details that accompany an event like this.

To the volunteers who were willing to rise at dawn to set up tables, manage registration, distribute water, make art with kids, work the course and keep everything going smoothly — we appreciate you!

And of course a big thank-you to our 140 race participants. There wouldn’t be a race without you!
