John A. Sullivan

1923-2017

John A. Sullivan, 94, Harrodsburg, widower of Carolyn “Cottie” McLean Sullivan, died Monday at his home. Born October 8, 1923, in Harrodsburg, to the late Ann (Litsey) and Charles Blount Sullivan II. He served in the Army during World War II, making the invasion of France at Omaha Beach in 1944 and received three Bronze Stars. John was a Centre College graduate, a successful business man, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved hunting, fishing and U.K. Basketball.

John is survived by: five daughters, Faye Bosley of Danville, Kay Horrigan (Mike) of Charlotte, NC, Becky Wierzbinski (Paul) of Lexington, Elizabeth Best (Jim) of Prairieville, LA and Kim Stamper of Frankfort; a special friend and caregiver, Cathy Spencer of Frankfort; five grandchildren, John Best, Bob Bosley (Megan), Patrick Horrigan, Eli Stamper and Kate Stamper and four great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Blount Sullivan III and William Litsey Sullivan, and a sister, Lois Sullivan Thomas.

Per John’s request, there will be no formal funeral service, however, a gathering of family and friends will take place from 6-8 PM Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.
