Action items on the agenda include: consider options for network cabling upgrade since no bids were received; consider one hardship application for graduation in December; consider resolution declaring official intent of the Boyle County Board of Education with respect to reimbursement of temporary advances made for capital expenditures related tot he project to be made from subsequent borrowings by the Boyle County School District Finance Corporation.
Cooperative Extension Service District Board — 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at the county extension office. There will be a discussion on the heat and air conditioning purchases.

Dare to Dream on Saturday
Dare to Dream is a fashion and talent showcase for youth and adults with disabilities. The event will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at Centenary Methodist Church, located at Millennium Park entrance. There will be a silent auction from 1-3 p.m. A reception will follow the pageant. One hundred percent of proceeds go to SPAN-Special Persons Advocacy Network. Danville and Perryville offering disposal of bulky waste
Mark your calendar! Cities of Danville and Perryville – Republic Services is picking up couches, chairs, benches tables and any other bulky items that will not fit in your solid waste container on your regularly scheduled pick-up day.
Danville: Monday, Nov. 13 through Friday, Nov. 17
Perryville: Tuesday, Nov. 14
Save time and gas by placing these items at your curb. Items must be out by 6 a.m. on your day of waste collection. Republic Services will only make one trip around town for this service provided in the cities solid waste contract. All brush must be tied into 3 to 4 foot sections and all loose trash must be placed into bags. Help a neighbor; Help a friend to move bulky items to the curb safely. Ephraim McDowell Health sponsoring free health screening
PAINT LICK — Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening at Leavell Green Christian Church in Paint Lick from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, take-home colorectal cancer screening kits (over age 50), stroke risk, stress, depression, and flu shots. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.
Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. Medications except for diabetic medications may be taken with water. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, please call (859) 339-3103 or (859) 925-2088. The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years and older.

Lincoln retired teachers to meet
STANFORD —Lincoln County Retired Teachers are encouraged to attend the Oct. 17 meeting to hear speaker Austin Gage, Legislative Assistant to Congressman Hal Rogers, our Fifth District Representative in the U.S. Congress who will address H.R. 1205 repealing the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP). These bills were passed several years ago that prohibit a teacher from receiving spousal Social Security benefits, as well as prevent him/her from receiving full Social Security benefits from any previous employment under Social Security. Five House members from Kentucky have agreed to co-sponsor this bill. Congressman Rogers is not one of them.
The meeting is a potluck lunch at Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center in Stanford at 11:30 a.m. Meat is provided for $2; please bring a side dish or dessert.
Also bring items for the backpack program for Lincoln County students.
