Edna “Fay” Murphy

1924-2017

Edna “Fay” Murphy of Lancaster passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital after a short illness. Fay was born February 5, 1924 in Garrard County to the late Jessie and Ida Sparks Casey.

She retired after 24 years from Palm Beach Company and was a former Cowden Manufacturing employee. She was a member of the New Antioch Christian Church, where she had been a member of WCF. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Clethia Guy, Celesta Keith, Nettie Casey, Lillie Geneva Mason, Amanda Prewitt, Zella B Preston, Anna Ruth Mason, and a brother Adolph Casey. She is survived by a son, David (Betty) Murphy of Indiana, daughter Cynthia Murphy Jennings, of Lancaster, brother John W. Casey of Dearborn MIchigan, five grandchildren, Jerry (Laurie) Murphy, Robyn Murphy, Susan (Todd) Kochert, Gina (Rodney) Sparks, Shawn (Heidi) Jennings, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Holland officiating. Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Murphy, Tommie Kochert, Matt Sparks, Isaacs Sparks, Shawn Jennings, and Robbie Casey.
