Harry Thomas Cheak

1941-2017

Harry Thomas (Tom) Cheak, 76, of Danville, formerly of Harrodsburg, departed this world to be with his Savior on Wednesday the 18th of October 2017. The son of the late William H. and Vonie Mae Cheak was born on March 3,1941 in Mercer County, Kentucky and was the 3rd of 7 children.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sharon Rue Cheak; two sons, Bryan Thomas Cheak and wife Cherlynn and Robert Daniel Cheak and wife Angela; and a daughter, Kathryn Cheak Readnour and husband Doug. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michael Bryan Cheak and wife Emily, Zachary Tyler Cheak and wife Niki, Christian Robert Cheak, Aaron Seth Readnour, Emily Grace Readnour and Madison Breann Readnour; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Lucille Cheak and Jameson Hilton Cheak. Other survivors include a sister and four brothers along with numerous nephews and nieces. Tom was preceded in death by one brother, William (Billy) Joel Cheak. 

Tom was a 1959 graduate of Burgin High School and was a member of the 1957 6-Man State Champions Football Team and was an avid fisherman and longtime fan of UK Athletics. He was also a very passionate supporter of Harrodsburg Pioneer athletics. Tom was also the past President of the Boyle County High School Marching Rebels Booster Club. 

Many people came to know Tom as a baseball coach, umpire and softball umpire from 1961 until 1993. Tom was an active member of The Hedgeville Baptist Church and also served as Deacon at other churches in Boyle County. Tom worked at Corning Glass/Phillips Lighting from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. After retirement Tom began a professional sales career in Restaurant Marketing business serving as Co-Founder and President of Cheak Enterprises. That legacy continues today with the family business. 

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the following: The Dialysis Clinic, Inc and Staff The Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation, Staff Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Staff of Heritage Hospice and each member of the Hedgeville Baptist Church. The family would also like to express their gratitude for the countless numbers of visits, calls and expressions of sympathies from friends and family. 

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, October 23, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Grizzell, Bryan and Danny Cheak officiating. The family will welcome guests on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 4-9pm and Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 4-9pm. Burial will follow at the Danville Memorial Gardens. www.prestonpruitt.com
