Open meeting set to discuss proposed pension changes

Dear Editor,

A major change is proposed to Kentucky’s state pensions that will affect us all. The Womens Network of Boyle County is sponsoring an open meeting about this on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Inter-County Energy Cooperative community room. Those employees affected and the general public are invited to come.

Together, we’ll tackle the hard questions. How can the pensions of public employees — from Frankfort department officials to public servants at local courthouses and city halls, from kindergarten teachers to state college professors, from judges to social workers, from custodians to first responders — be adequately funded? How will Gov. Bevin’s pension proposals affect these public servants and the services they provide?  How will Kentucky attract and keep dedicated and qualified workers in the public sector without pensions to compensate for lower wages?

We hope you are concerned about these issues and will join the discussion.
