Seven groups competed in the Dancing with the Danville Stars Saturday night at Gravely Hall. The event raised $23,986.85 for the Danville Schools Education Foundation.

The winning group that raised the most money was Mary G. Hogsett Elementary School’s Happily Ever Hogsett, which was awarded $1,000; second place was awarded to The Wolfpack from Danville High School, which received $500 for its school.

Attendees got to vote for their favorite group; Jennie Rogers Elementary School’s Evolution of the Cougar dance, which featured former and current students and teachers, won that vote, earning $250 for the school. This is the last year Jennie Rogers Elementary will be competing, as it is the last year for students to be at the school; it will become home of the central office before the start of next school year.

Teams from Toliver Elementary School and John W. Bate Middle School competed, along with two community teams. Most of the money raised goes to the Danville Schools Education Foundation, which gives money to teachers in the form of mini grants, as well as a scholarship to a graduating senior.
