Red Kettle Campaign to start

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign officially kicks off 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, (Nov. 17) in front of Kroger in Danville. The public is invited to come out and support the campaign, said Salvation Army Captain Patrick Richmond. Volunteer bell ringers are still needed to man the kettles throughout the season in Boyle, Lincoln and Mercer counties. To schedule a time to volunteer, call (859) 236-4473. This year’s goal is to raise $110,00 to help support the Salvation Army’s year-round services.

Centre College Bookstore is hosting author Buck Brannon, who will be signing his book “Towers Above” at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17. This is a free event and open to the public. The Centre Bookstore is located in the Hub building at 110 Third Street. Call (859) 238 1516 for more information.

Lighting of the Luminaries

Morning Pointe of Danville and The Lantern Alzheimer’s Memory Care facility will have a Lighting of the Luminaries in honor of their residents and loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29. If you are unable to attend, please let us know and we will light a candle in their honor. Call (859) 965-1008 to reserve your luminary or for more information.

Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce to host KY Chamber President Adkisson as luncheon speaker Nov. 29

The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon meeting for members with Kentucky Chamber President David Adkisson. He will address business issues expected to be part of the upcoming legislative session. The luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29, at noon at the Danville Country Club on Lexington Avenue.

Dave Adkisson is president and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. During his 12 years at the Chamber, it

has grown substantially while working to fulfill its mission of “Uniting Business and Advancing Kentucky.” Adkisson is past chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives and past chairman of the national Council of State Chambers.  Adkisson is originally from Owensboro, Ky., where he started his career at the chamber of commerce and later served eight years as the mayor of Owensboro. He served as president of the Birmingham, Alabama Chamber for six years before returning to Kentucky to head the Kentucky Chamber in 2005.
