Boyle County Board of Education Special Called Meeting – Thursday, Nov. 30, 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Central Office Conference Room. Agenda includes: recommendation from Calendar Committee and discussion of 2018-2019 school calendar; board action including consider accepting/awarding bids for the new Boyle County Middle School construction project, consider revised BG-1 for the new Boyle County Middle School construction project, and consideration and approval of a resolution authorizing a contract lease and option with the Boyle County School Finance District.

Boyle County School District Finance Corporation Special Meeting – Thursday, Nov. 30, 6:45 p.m. at the Board of Education Central Office. Agenda includes: board action on reappointment of board of directors; adoption of resolution authorizing the issuance of the Boyle County School District Finance Corporation School Building Refunding Revenue Bonds, Series of 2017.

The American Legion Auxiliary Perryville Unit 301 Christmas Social Meeting – Monday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Perryville Christian Church on 3rd Street.

WTH’s ‘Orphan Train’ production schedule changed

“The Orphan Train,” by Liz Orndorff and Scott Brown, will only be produced Friday-Sunday, Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10 at West T. Community Theatre in Danville; the third weekend’s performance has been canceled. Due to an unforeseen medical emergency with Brown, the play’s musical composer and production accompanist, the schedule had to be changed in order to find a replacement. The theater apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause its patrons, and wishes a speedy recovery to Brown. 

For anyone who has already purchased tickets for the canceled weekend of Dec. 15-17, and would like information on being accommodated, call the theater’s box office at (859) 319-0205. To purchase tickets for Dec. 1-3 or Dec. 8-10, visit westthill.net or call the box office.

Corrections

In the story “Kroger tax appeal impacting school district” that appeared on page A1 of Friday’s Advocate-Messenger, the numbers concerning the amount of property tax Kroger pays are incorrect. The difference in property taxes owed between the assessed value of Kroger’s property ($5.5 million) and what Kroger believes the assessment should be ($2.75 million) is about $37,000. Out of that $37,000 difference, about $26,000 would go to the Danville Independent School District if paid. The total amount of property tax Kroger could pay on the $5.5 million assessment would be around $74,000.

In the story “Soul of 2nd St. photographic exhibit looking for additions” on Nov. 25, Michael Hughes should have been identified as a board member of the Heart of Danville, not the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In the story “McDowell Place creates calendar…” Rose Dickerson was misidentified as Ruth Young; Virginia Bartle was misidentified as Rachel Dunsmore. The calendar was created by Bruce Jones Design.

In Tuesday’s “Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down” column, the Boyle County Sheriff was incorrectly identified. The sheriff is Derek Robbins.
