Kickoff to state championship games

Six bigwigs of local government and schools gathered at Danville City Hall Wednesday afternoon for a special press conference, called to wish good luck to the Boyle County Rebels and Danville Admirals football teams in their respective state championship games. Danville Mayor Mike Perros, Danville Schools Superintendent Keith Look, Danville football head coach Clay Clevenger, Boyle County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney, Boyle County Schools Superintendent Mike LaFavers and Boyle County football head coach Chuck Smith posed for a photo op and spoke on-air on WRNZ with Charlie Perry, as a crowd of around 20 attended the event. The Boyle County Rebels will play Corbin at 7 p.m. Friday for the Class 3A state championship. The Danville Admirals will play Mayfield at 1 p.m. Saturday for the Class 2A state championship. Both games will be played on Kroger Field in Lexington.
