Lee Howard Releford

1943-2017

Lee Howard Releford, 74, husband of Trish Releford, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his residence. Born January 18, 1943 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Gladys Shewmaker Releford. He was a farmer and the owner and operator of Releford Excavation for many years. He was a member of The Carpenter’s Christian Church, collected Tractors and Farm Machinery, and enjoyed antique tractor pulling. 

Survivors besides his wife include two sons: Tim and Crystal Darland and Chris and Aimee Darland both of Mercer County; one daughter Crystal and Michael Young of Danville, one sister Hope McMullin of Mercer County, six grandchildren: Fred Howard Releford, Logan Darland, Taylor Darland, Hunter Dean, Colton Darland, and Caden Young; five great grandchildren: Christopher Releford, Siera Releford, Jacob Releford, Payton Releford, and Jonathon Releford; one brother-in-law Jimmy and Brenda Long of Harrodsburg and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by on son Phillip Howard Releford and one brother-in-law Aubrey J. McMullin.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with John Kesel and Derek Baker officiating. Burial will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery with Fred Howard Releford, Logan Darland, Hunter Dean, Colton Darland, Caden Young, Taylor Darland, Tim Darland, and Chris Darland serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Steele, Garvey Barnett, Danny Humber, Lynn Releford, Marty McMullin, Kevin Sallee, and Billy Ray Semones.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
