Ruth Long

1922-2017

Ruth Long, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. She was the widow of the late Alvin Long. Ruth was born on February 1, 1922 in the Turnersville area of Lincoln County to Joseph & Leah Wilcher Estes. 

She was a longtime member of Turnersville Christian Church and was currently a member of Stanford Christian Church. She was a seamstress with Cowden and Palm Beach Inc. from which she retired. She loved her family, reading, and quilt making. 

She leaves behind one daughter, JoBelle (John, Jr.) Sallee of Stanford; three grandchildren, Pamela Salle of Waynesburg, KY, Christalynn (Printess) Hubble of McKinney, KY, and Lon (Thea) Long of Hustonville, KY; five great-grandchildren, Emily Grace Sallee & John Sallee, IV of Acworth, GA, Savannah (Devan) Lay of Burgin, KY, PJ Hubble of McKinney, KY, and James (Angela) Jackson of Colbert, GA; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee & Kinsley Lay; one granddaughter-in-law, Terri Sallee of Acworth, GA; and one daughter-in-law, Vickie Privett of McKinney, KY. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Long; a grandson, John Sallee, III; three sisters, Erie Cain, Samantha Estes, Josephine Barlow; and three brothers, John Estes, Sam Estes, and Lewis Estes. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverends Jim Baughman & Terry Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Casket bearers will be: Printess Hubble, PJ Hubble, Lon Long, Skyler Long, John Sallee, IV, James Jackson, and Devan Lay.
