W.E. “Jr.” Taylor

1933-2017

W.E. “Jr.” Taylor, 90, was called home on Saturday December 30, 2017. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky, one of six children of the late William Edward and Sadie Ellen Wilson Taylor, Sr. He and his beloved wife, Wanda Mae Baugh Taylor were married 68 years.

Jr. loved going to church and was a member and Chairman of Deacons at Beech Fork Baptist Church. He also served his Country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He touched many lives through various occupations in his life. He was a tenant farmer, worked in construction for Edwards & Webb, a pipeline worker, owner of a dairy farm for many years, worked with the Kentucky State highway department, was a bus driver and garage maintenance employee for Boyle County Schools and retired as custodian of Woodlawn Elementary school.

Jr. was an avid Bee Keeper and was known for the delicious honey his bees produced. He was a Master Gardener often working hours upon hours in his garden. Most importantly, he was a witness for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to his wife, Wanda, Jr. is survived by four children, Jerry Edward (Jackie) Taylor who enjoyed turkey hunting with his dad, Gary Michael (Joyce) Taylor who loved mushroom hunting with his dad, Rita Joyce (Steve) Bailey who loved to sing to her daddy, and Lisa Ann (Pete) Bottom who always enjoyed feeding the cows silage with her daddy.

Other survivors include, a brother, Joel Richard (Ada) Taylor, nine grandchildren, Tracie Michelle Sleet, Christopher Stuart Taylor, Ashley Miller, Joni Horn, Michael Taylor, Jeremy Michael Matherly, Jami Nicole Hatter, Matthew Bottom, Taylor Bottom, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Along with his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Kaye Taylor and four siblings, Omer Lee Taylor, Marvin Gerald Taylor, Leota Evans, and Evelyn Goode.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday January 4, 2018 at Perryville Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with full military honors. Grandson Matthew Bottom will officiate along with Rev. Doug Davis, Bro Jeff Sparks, and Bro John David Lane. Visitation will be from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday January 3, 2018 at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Matherly, Chris Taylor, Matt and Taylor Bottom, Michael Taylor, Joni Horn, Ashley Miller, and Parker Hatter.

Honorary bearers will be Charles Edward “Buck” Goode, Billy Rue Matherly, Norman Elliott, Josh Horn, Travis Miller, Traci Sleet, and Jami Hatter.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Beech Fork Baptist Church.

Walden Funeral Home Perryville is entrusted with arrangements.
