Pets of the week, Jan. 9

Photographs are courtesy of Ronnie Logue. Our featured pets this week are Tabitha and
Jake.
Tabitha is a pretty one-year-old tabby kitty. Unfortunately, her owners moved and left this precious girl behind. The landlord found Tabitha and brought her to the humane society so she would be safe. Tabitha has a great personality. She’s very friendly and outgoing without being needy. She would love to start off 2018 with second chance at her forever home!
Jake is a handsome seven-month-old retriever mix pup. He was surrendered by his owner who found herself with too many dogs to care for in a proper manner. Jake is very sweet, but did not get the training and attention needed as a young puppy. He is a little bashful and needs to learn to walk on leash. When you look in Jake’s big brown eyes you will see his potential. Jake just needs a person who is willing and able to give him the devotion and love that he deserves.
How about making a New Year’s resolution to donate a few hours each month to a non-profit organization? The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society needs enthusiastic volunteers to assist our staff at our adoption center at the Brannon Crossing PetSmart just north of Nicholasville. A few hours of your time on Saturday or Sunday afternoon can
make a big difference in the lives of our homeless animals. This work is both fun and rewarding. Find a friend and volunteer together and you will get to spend time with our adorable animals and at the same time you will be saving lives. For more information you can contact our PetSmart coordinator by emailing humanevolunteer@gmail.com or
call the humane society at (859) 238-1117.
Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
