Doris Arlene Smith Burton

1935-2018

Doris Arlene Smith Burton, 82, of Lexington, formerly of Danville, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

Born July 6, 1935, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Bertha May Leisure. Doris was a homemaker and the wife of Philip Burton. She was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, a devoted wife and mother who loved children and dogs. She volunteered her time to help children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Catherine Sue Jones of Livermore, Ky. ; a son, Timothy Mark (Leslie) Burton of Nicholasville; two grandchildren, Matthew Derek (Annalee) Burton and Lauren Nicole Burton; and a great-grandson, Patton Alexander Burton.

The funeral service will be 6 p.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Baker will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the service on Monday.

Her wishes for cremation will be honored and her cremains will be buried in Bellevue Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
