Nancy Miller Hill, age 83, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Tuesday, October 16, 1934 in Pecos, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys Payne Miller. Nancy was the widow of Thomas “TJ” Jefferson Hill, III, whom she married after the Christmas holiday (December 1958), and preceded her in death November 26, 1995. Nancy grew up in Barstow, Texas and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She then completed post-graduate work at Columbia University in New York. After moving to Kentucky, she earned her Masters and Rank I degrees in Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Nancy was a school teacher for 30 plus years, most of those years being with the Lincoln County School System. After retiring from teaching, she worked many long-term substitute teaching positions and served as a mentor to many children in Lincoln County. She also was the sponsor for the Kentucky Junior Historical Society and Math Counts Club while at Stanford Elementary. Nancy was a faithful member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, where she served on the Trustee Board and was a Sunday School teacher. Nancy was a long-standing member of the Stanford Women’s Club, DAR, Logan’s Fort Foundation, and the Lincoln County Historical Society. 

Nancy leaves behind one daughter, Virginia “Carol” Hill of Stanford; one grandson, Thomas J. Hill V of Stanford; one sister, Carol Jean Miller Kelley (Bill) of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Nancy Ann Kelley of Addison, Texas and Harriett Kelley Brown (Kevin) of Chicago, Illinois; and one great-nephew, Ben Brown of Chicago. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas “TJ” Jefferson Hill IV; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Snow Hill; and one brother, Jim Ed Miller. 

A funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church with Bro. David Gambrel and Pastor Jeff Bramel officiating the service. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. 

John Hackley, Wade Watts, Tony Saylor, Greg Baird, Mike Taylor, and James Kline will serve as active pallbearers. Nancy’s Wednesday Morning Prayer Group will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

Visitations will be held 5-8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m., until service time, Tuesday at the church.
