The United States Census Bureau estimates the average person will move 11.7 times during his or her lifetime. That may sound like a lot, but there are many reasons people move. They may or may not move into a smaller home, but an increasingly popular trend in recent years has been to downsize. 

Downsizing to a smaller home offers homeowners a number of advantages, including less maintenance and significant savings on utilities, taxes and insurance. For older adults, the downsizing process is particularly appealing as it allows for the realization of retirement goals, a simplified lifestyle and to live closer to family.

Come learn useful strategies about downsizing your home as it relates to you or a family member during a free workshop, offered 10 a.m. Friday at the Boyle County Extension Office, at 99 Corporate Drive in Danville.
