1935-2018

Velma Denham Coffey, 83, of Hustonville, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY.

She was born January 29, 1935, in Jumbo, KY to the late T.J. and Gladys Murphy Denham. She was the widow of Kenneth Dale Coffey. Velma was a member of the Church of Christ, she had worked at Palm Beach in Stanford, KY, as secretary at McKinney High School, was the personnel manager at Liberty Sportswear and was the admissions clerk at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, KY and Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY. Velma loved to cook and travel but most of all she loved her family and every minute spent with them. 

Survivors include two children, a son, Dean Coffey (Roxanna) of McKinney, KY and a daughter, Teresa Ahmie of Meridian, Mississippi; a sister, Carolyn Denham of Hustonville, KY; six grandchildren, Erik Coffey, Jarred Coffey, Chastity Mutters, Ashly Miljenovich, Heather Ahmie and Amanda Carll; and nine great-grandchildren. 

Along with her mother, father and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dale Coffey; and a brother, Marvin Denham. 

Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2018, from 5-9 p.m., the funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018, all at Spurlin Funeral Home Stanford. Pastor Brad Toy will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery, Hustonville, KY. Casket bearers are: Roy Lee Reichenbach, Randy Denham, Tony Carll, Ricky McCammon, Billy Phillips, Bill Gooch, and Chris McCammon.
