SHAKER VILLAGE
Press release
HARRODSBURG—Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill recently promoted Amber Hokams to chef. Hokams served as sous chef since spring 2017.
A product of Le Cordon Bleu of Austin, Hokams leads a culinary team at The Trustees’ Table that is looking back to the Village’s roots to deliver fresh, flavor-forward dishes through a new community-based approach inspired by Shaker lands and lessons.
In addition to the meals served daily at The Trustees’ Table, Hokams prepares and executes menus for Shaker Village events, such as Fresh Food Adventures, as well as client-contracted events, ranging from wedding receptions and family reunions to corporate retreats and social affairs.
Utilizing the bounty delivered from the farm and garden onsite, Hokams’ menus highlight seasonal produce, fresh herbs, apples grown onsite in the orchard and honey harvested from the production apiary in The Preserve.
The Trustees’ Table is a full-service, farm-to-table restaurant that serves three meals a day, 363 days a year (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day being the exceptions). For reservations, go to shakervillageky.org or call 800.734.5611.
ABOUT AMBER HOKAMS
Amber Hokams is the chef. She knew from a young age she loved cooking and how valuable the gift of food could be. Any important event or celebration was surrounded by a feast, and many times, that feast began with her nana wrapping tamales like tight little presents. Amber is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Austin and began her culinary career in downtown Austin, working in several high-end steakhouses during the week and a funky whimsical food truck on the weekends. She moved to Kentucky in 2014 and found a greater appreciation for Southern cuisine while at Shaker Village.
