Gobel “Shelton” Carpenter

1943-2018

Gobel “Shelton” Carpenter, 75, passed away Friday March 30, 2018. He was born February 14, 1943 in Washington County, Kentucky one of 13 children of the late Mitchell Carpenter, Sr and Florine Reynolds Carpenter.

Shelton grew up working on the family farm and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include brothers, Verrill, Mitchell, Jr., Joe Michael, and Lonnie Carpenter, sisters, Inez Grigsby and Doris Gibson., 26 nieces and nephews, and the Staff and Friends of A Brighter Choice.

In addition to his parents, Shelton was preceded in death by brothers, Elden, Carlton, McDale, Kamos, and Tildon Carpenter and a sister, Jewel Vaught Long.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Bro. Jamie Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday April 3, 2018 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Orberson, Stuart, Timmy, Craig, and Rodney Carpenter, Bruce Gibson and Clifton Vaught.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Special Olympics.
