Inmate escapes Northpoint before captured in Anderson Co.

An inmate from the Northpoint Training Center in Burgin escaped custody for about 45 minutes Monday morning, after overpowering an employee at the facility.
According to a release from the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Kenneth Daniel Bolin, 44, overpowered a correctional officer at about 1:30 a.m. He stole the officer’s keys and fled in the vehicle. The officer was not injured.
Bolin was arrested about 45 minutes later by Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies, the release states.
According to the Kentucky Online Offenders Lookup, Bolin had been charged with four counts of second-degree robbery and persistent felony offender in Jefferson County. His charges dated from 2007, 2009 and 2016.
Bolin could have been eligible for parole after March 22, 2020. As of press time, there were no charges relating to the escape listed on the website.
According to the DOC, the circumstances surrounding the escape are under review, and further charges against Bolin will be determined.
