Dear Editor,

I have supported Howard Hunt in his campaign and would like to share with you a few reasons why. This is a man who has an impeccable history of leadership, which will carry over to the citizens of Boyle County when elected as our incoming Boyle County judge-executive.

He believes in finding solutions for the problems and issues which face our community. During his campaign, he recently held four “Listen to Lead” meetings, where citizens were invited to meet Howard and share their community concerns with him. Two of these meetings were held in Danville, one in Junction City, and one in Perryville. 

When elected, he wants to continue hearing the voice of the people so he can do things like bring jobs to the county that will increase our revenues. Our community is special. In fact, very special, and I have always been proud to live here. I recently retired from the Boyle County Board of Education. I learned quickly that having the right people in leadership roles produces great results. This is what you will see in Howard if elected.

A huge issue facing our community is the drug use that singlehandedly is causing overpopulation in our detention center, not to mention the families that have been torn apart because of it. This will be a top priority as county judge-executive. 

Past leadership skills were demonstrated during his 34-year military career, retiring as a brigadier general in 2008 from the USAF and The KY Air National Guard. In 2014, Howard retired from The Kentucky Association of Counties as human resource director, where he taught county elected officials some annual continuing education trainings concerning emergency and disaster response. While commander of the Kentucky Air National Guard, he had an oversight responsibility for budgets of $50 million. 

I ask you, who better can understand the job responsibilities of this role? It’s clear to me, Howard Hunt III will make a great leader for our community.
