Great American

Picnic tables still available

The opening of the Great American Brass Band Festival is less than two weeks away, and its executive director wants the public to know that picnic tables are still available to reserve.

Tables are $150 and may be reserved by visiting gabbf.org. For those who are in the competitive spirit, the annual table-decorating contest returns, judging designs on the following categories: 2018 Best in Theme; Got Style; The Improv Award; and the Great American Spirit Award. Also, two new awards will be given this year: Best in Business, where the winner receives a $500 advertising bonus by WHIR Hometown Radio, and deluxe gift baskets; and Best in Show, awarding two-months free membership to Danville Country Club and deluxe gift baskets.

Correction

In the article “EDP divided over paying fundraising incentives” that appeared in Thursday’s Advocate-Messenger, the accounting of who voted in favor or against the motion to calculate an incentive payment for former Economic Development Partnership Chief Operating Officer Hal Goode was incorrect. The EDP corrected the vote total to eight in favor and six against on Thursday; Centre College representative Brian Hutzley voted against the motion.
