A Lincoln County man was fatally shot early Tuesday morning; police are still searching for the shooter.

Ryan Scott Livengood, 23, was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center at 1:33 a.m. Tuesday, Boyle County Coroner Dr. Don Hamner said.

An autopsy performed Tuesday confirmed that cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest, Hamner said.

Trooper Billy Gregory with Kentucky State Police said the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. in the area of Isaiah Henry Road in Hustonville.

Gregory said KSP is still investigating the shooting and attempting to identify and locate the shooter. He said Wednesday there were no further details about the shooter available.

Livengood “was shot during an altercation that occurred” in a Hustonville business parking lot at 66 Isaiah Lane, outside of a Subway restaurant, according to a news release issued Tuesday night.

The suspect does not appear to be a severe threat to public safety at this time.

“I think anytime something like this happens and we don’t have a suspect people should be aware. This shouldn’t mandate an outcry, but people should be aware there was an incident and no arrests were made,” Gregory stated.

Those with information are encouraged to call the Kentucky State Police at (800) 222-5555.
