Alfred Gilliam Hearne IV, 91, of Danville passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

Born May 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Maebird Thornburg Hearne Klein, A.G. Hearne III and K. Arley Hearne. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Al attended schools in Detroit, New York City, Chicago and Homosassa Springs, Fla. He later graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tennessee and attended Centre College. He was a WWII US Navy veteran. He worked as a cartographer at Hearne Brother’s Maps, founded by his family and Uncle Knox.

Al is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Lewallen Hearne; a son, A.G. (Kathy) Hearne V of Troy, Michigan; three daughters, Caren Hearne, Jeanine (David) Sanders, and Elaine Hearne all of Danville; sisters-in-law, Jody (Arnold) Herrmann of Danville and Tina Ray of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a nephew, Danny Cooper of Danville; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Alex (Molly) Sanders, Oliver Davis, Paige Sanders (David) Lutz, Collins (Allison) Davis, Susan Hearne (Tom) Bellisario, and Adam Hearne; and seven great-grandchildren, Audra and Cora Davis, Gabriel and Bianca Lutz, Josephine and Graham Sanders, and Thomas Bellisario.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Philip Hearne.

Visitation is after 11 a.m., Monday, June 18 at Centenary United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Scott Stith and Rev. Sean Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Danville Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers are David Sanders, David Lutz, Alex Sanders, Oliver Davis, Tom Bellisario and Adam Hearne. Honorary pallbearers are the John Pruitt Sunday School Class.
