‘Return of Tinker Doyle’ a great show at Pioneer Playhouse

Dear Editor,

“The Return of Tinker Doyle” currently running at Pioneer Playhouse is rollicking testimony to why Ireland is a green magnet for so many American visitors and why a decade ago Danville chose Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, as its Sister City.

Several years ago, Danville’s first exchange artist, Liz Orndorff, experienced first-hand during her month-long stay in Carrickfergus Irish story-telling, music, dance, whiskey, religion, luck and love of Dolly Parton. Her new play, directed with great finesse by Robert Parker, celebrates all of them.

The two Irish actors scheduled to come over get caught in the new U.S. visa thicket? No matter: Robby and Heather Henson work their Irish magic to get the return of Daniel Hall Kuhn and the body-thumping Forest Loeffler in their places. The 60 Sister Cities sponsors and benefactors and the 12 Sister Cities commissioners invite you to enjoy this Danville Irish “Craik” out at the Playhouse before it closes on Saturday, June 23.
