Forkland Convenience Center under repair

Due to recent flooding, the Forkland Convenience Center is not equipped to accept bulky household items (beds, mattresses, tables, etc.), bulky metal (washer, dryers, refrigerators, etc.) or recycling at this time. Repairs to the center are expected to be complete by Friday, July 20.

While the Center is under repair only one 30-yard open top will be available for disposal. Traffic congestion is expected.

The Forkland Center hours of operation will remain the same: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; closed on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays and holidays.

Due to this change in disposal options, Boyle County Solid Waste is asking the public to only come to the Forkland center with bagged household waste.

If you do come to the center, please drive safely, be patient and listen to the operator’s instructions. If at all possible, residents are asked to visit a different convenience center, including:

• Mitchellsburg Convenience Center, 4175 Mitchellsburg Road — (859) 332-4918;

• Perryville Convenience Center, 995 Harrodsburg Road — (859) 332-8225; and

• Alum Springs Convenience Center, 775 Yates Road — (859) 854-3404.

For all convenience center locations and days and hours of operation, visit boyleky.com. For more information, call Solid Waste Director Donna Fechter at (859) 319-4803.

Correction

In the story titled “Forkland Community Center, fire station suffered damage in Tuesday’s flooding” the fire station was incorrectly identified. It should have been Boyle County Fire Station 6.
