Harold McCowan, 92, of Junction City passed away on July 4, 2018. Born February 15, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Josephine Gaddis. He was a US Army veteran. He was retired from US Steel.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Privitt McCowan; a daughter, Valerie Roberts; an infant son, Harold Wayne McCowan; and seven brothers and three sisters.

Harold was an active church member all his adult life where he served in many capacities while able. He had been a church bus driver and a deacon, both in Indiana and Kentucky. Harold loved fishing, woodworking and visiting with friends. He enjoyed life!

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Verna McCowan; two sons, Maris McCowan of Indiana and Jerry McCowan of Stanford; two daughters, Phyllis King of Indiana and Kathy (Dale) Wright of Texas; seven step-children, Patty (Randy) Derton of Tennessee, Allen Cochran of Indiana, Don (Sue) Cochran of Indiana, James Cochran of Junction City, Carl (Micki) Cochran of Florida, Chester (Mary) Cochran of Indiana and Ruby Simms of Argentina; 14 grandchildren and also has great grandchildren.

Visitation will Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Bro. Ernest Fields officiating. Private burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.wlpruitt.com.
