Dorothy Ray Long

1925-2018

Dorothy Ray Long, 92, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, June 2, 2018 at her home.

She was born October 23, 1925 in Garrard County to the late Abner and Ida Speakes Ray. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Junior G. Long. She retired from Kroger in Danville after 25 years and co-owned Long’s Supermarket with her husband for 10 years. Dorothy was a member of New Antioch Christian Church and attended Lancaster Christian Church since 1980.

Surviving is a son, Danny Long (Diana) of Irvine, Ky.; a sister, Johnetta Gibson of Danville; grandchildren, Greg Alan Osborne and Latisha Berrey; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Renee Osborne, Brandon Mitchell Osborne, and Lincoln Brooks Berrey; and caregivers, Betty Browning and Teresa Chapman.

Dorothy is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana Renee Simpson; and two sisters, Dazey R. Chance and Patsy A. Ray.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Mallory and Bro. Jerry Browning officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6-8 PM.
